Poem: Cans & Cannots

April 13, 2018
I wrote this short, Gatsby-inspired piece a while ago.

Raise the glass
Here the tinkling ice
Why of course you can
Not even a might
You want it
Go get it
It’s not that easy
You stand in your own way
The world won’t let you
Society says nay
You reassess
Realign
Re-prioritize
All you can find is confusion
A shadow
A remnant
What did you once want
That now which you can’t recall
You don’t remember after all
