The Healthy College Student's Grocery List

I was talking to one of my coworkers the other day, and he was telling me that he doesn't like to eat healthy. He pretty much lives off of chicken tenders, fries, and fast food generally. This was kind of horrifying to me, to be honest haha. Anyway, I gave him a few suggestions on how to eat healthier. I think that I eat pretty healthy, on the whole. I definitely love baked goods a little too much and have a huge sweet tooth, but on the daily, the meals and snacks I have are generally pretty wholesome/nutritious (read what I eat in a day here).

As a college student, it might be harder to eat healthy, especially when you can't spend a ton of money on groceries and/or hate to cook * insert emoji with hand raised here*. I buy nearly all of my groceries at Trader Joe's, with the exception of a few items, and my grocery bill is generally between $25 and $35 a week, more if I'm re-stocking on certain things, like coconut oil or raw nuts (both of which are surprisingly expensive), which is pretty student-friendly.

With that $25-$35, I can buy quite a number of healthy foods. Below is what is probably on my weekly grocery list, give or take a few staple items or items with a longer shelf life.

Almond milk
Shredded/sliced cheese

Sweet potatoes
Spinach or arugula
Frozen fruit blend (for smoothies!)
Frozen peppers
Frozen corn
Frozen shredded potatoes

Whole wheat pasta
Brown rice
Whole grain/wheat bread
Whole wheat tortillas
Oatmeal/rolled oats

Black/white beans
Green chiles
Coconut oil
Olive oil
Balsamic vinegar
Coconut sugar
Salsa/enchilada sauce
Marinara sauce
Pita chips/multigrain crackers/tortilla chips
Trail mix
Raw nuts
Granola/Lara bars

Ground turkey
Chicken breast

*Eggs are not considered dairy products, but I didn't know where else to put them hehe.
